Puppy Dog Training

Though puppy is smaller in size as compared to older dog, the effort taken to train a puppy is more than training a dog. Dog training club insist that the best way to make dogs obey commands is to train them when they are puppies. But from the perspective of a puppy, it is a harsh, rude and sudden transformation from his pack of associates to an entirely different atmosphere in the house. So, it needs a lot of patience from the part of the owner to train the puppy.

Basically, the puppy should be given the clear message of his position in the house, from day one. If the puppy is allowed more freedom to wander around the house and be free, then, he would take advantage of this and try to overpower others, especially small kids, if any, in the house.

Likewise, the other disciplines like potty training and exercising should also be started from the first day it enters the house. Puppies tend to chew things that come in their way as their teeth are new and sharp. So, shoes and books should be kept out of their view and chew toys should be provided to them.

Interestingly, puppies have temperament that depends on their birth and breed. Knowing these two, from the dog training club or from the person they have been purchased would greatly help to train the puppies. It, undoubtedly, takes time, probably a couple of weeks for the puppy to learn obedience. It needs a lot of effort and patience but it has to be divided into smaller portion of time, everyday.

Consistency is the most important thing in puppy training since not even a single day should be missed for giving training. The training should start with simple commands like sit, come, stay, fetch and so on which they would learn very fast. As they grow older, more advanced commands can be taught.

Puppies are very open towards learning and responding and enjoy the training given to them. Puppy training is very crucial because untrained puppies are unruly, aggressive, and mischievous. Hence, if they are not trained at young age, they tend to think what they do is right and grow with it.

At no point of time, violence should be adopted for puppy training as it would have a negative effect and puppies may shun the idea of learning. After all, puppies are small and similar to babies that yearn for your attention.
